Location: floor 1 of 46 Ma May

Ma May is a short street with one of the densest clusters of nightlife in the Old Quarter. Walk a few dozen metres from Hang Buom and you reach number 46, the building that holds The Bunker on floor 1 and Midnight Club on floor 2. A few steps away are Fein Club at 44 Ma May, The Circle at 33 Ma May and the Ta Hien beer street.

Practical note: from Friday evening through Sunday, the Hang Buom – Ma May – Ta Hien area becomes a pedestrian zone, so cars cannot reach the door. Park around Tran Nhat Duat or Hang Muoi and walk 5–10 minutes; motorbikes follow the signs at the top of the street. On rainy nights and public holidays, arrive 15–20 minutes early to avoid waiting outside.

Space and music

The Bunker brands itself as “The Bunker Airlines”, and the fit-out follows that idea: the room sits below street level, the ceiling is low, LED strips run around the floor and the bar, and the walls are industrial concrete. The layout is a dance floor in the middle, standing tables around it and sofas along both sides. Compared with large venues such as A Plus Hanoi on Yen Phu, The Bunker is much smaller – but you are closer to the DJ, and the basement feel is far stronger.

Music is hip-hop and house. DJs play through the night, with K-mix sets (DJing combined with live vocals or rap) and bar games in between – that is what separates it from clubs that only play records. Guest-DJ and themed nights are busier and carry higher table minimums; the schedule is posted on the venue’s fan page a few days ahead.

Tables and how pricing works

The Bunker does not publish a drinks menu, but its table range is listed at 1,000,000 – 15,000,000 VND. In Old Quarter practice that splits into three groups:

  • Standing or small table: parties of 2–4, the lowest tier, best if you want to stay near the floor.
  • High table or small sofa: parties of 4–6, with a view of the floor and the DJ booth.
  • VIP sofa or bottle combo: larger groups, usually a bottle plus mixers and shots – this is where most of the 15,000,000 VND upper end sits.

Prices move with the night, the table position and holidays. When you book, ask three things: the minimum spend for that table, whether 10% VAT and service charge are included, and how long the table is held if you arrive late. Getting those answers first avoids almost every dispute at payment time.

Tips for a night at The Bunker

  • Best arrival: 21:30–22:30. After 23:30 at weekends tables are effectively gone.
  • Dress code: smart casual. Shirt or collared tee, trousers or jeans, closed shoes. Skip flip-flops, shorts and tank tops.
  • Groups: book a sofa 1–2 days ahead, especially on guest-DJ nights.
  • Birthdays: tell the venue in advance so the table and cake are arranged; Old Quarter clubs usually only set up for pre-booked guests.
  • Two floors, one address: start at The Bunker and move up to Midnight Club without going back onto the street.
  • Getting home: after 03:00 ride-hailing is thin in the Old Quarter – book before you leave or walk out to Hang Buom.
